Ok, file this under yeah, you can, but should you?

Just wanted to see the range of a sizeable awl made from very old German steel.

Top thread is Cambell Randall brown linen thread, done with a Vergez Blanchard awl, so disregard.

Second row is 0.6MM purple Tiger Ritza 25 thread, at 5 stitches per inch, marked with an overstitch wheel.

Third row is 1.4MM Yellow Tiger Ritza 25 thread, at 5 stitches per inch, marked with an overstitch wheel. Definitely needs a larger hole!

Bottom row is about a 1MM Ashley industries braided machine thread.

The awl has a gradual taper, so fairly easy to control hole size.
