Members ValJ Posted November 16, 2023 (edited) Report Can you please tell me where to get the hardware to use on the sling? I am a beginner Leather worker and I need to make a sling for a 357 lever action. Can you offer any tips for being successful? Edited November 16, 2023 by ValJ Quote
Members Dwight Posted November 16, 2023 (edited) Report I ordered the hardware off Ebay . . . this was their wording for their ad . . . S3912N Lever Action Sling Mount Kit Split Band Winchester Marlin Mossberg Silver . . . I had to create the rear piece thru which the two Chicago screws go . . . and the rear sling bar catches. If you are going to do that as well . . . it should be a 5/16 piece of aluminum . . . and you'll have to blow up the picture to see the shape of it . . . I didn't take any pictures . . . figuring it was a one time deal. The folks off Ebay sent me a post that can be screwed into the stock . . . and they work quite well . . . drill a 1/8 or so hole . . . screw it in . . . put on the sling . . . you are good to go. This sling was made from 7/8 oz veg tan . . . the piece that catches and keeps in in one place is also off Ebay . . . search for a "brass sling frog" . . . cut a 1 inch strap . . . punch the holes . . . give it a good oiling with neatsfoot oil . . . dye it . . . and you are good to go . You can see the basic shape of the back piece of leather . . . the piece going around the shoulder plate on the stock is actually two pieces . . . one coming in from either side . . . and is riveted together. Let me know if you have any other questions . . . we're all here to learn. Edited November 16, 2023 by Dwight Quote
