Terminal Knot?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have just started braiding, and I´m gathering as much information as I can.

I´m practicing many different knots, so I can use them later on in my projects.

The biggest problem I have is to combine the individual knots to a nice project, like a bracelet or a keyfob.

For instance I want to braid a bracelet. I read a lot of topics about to finish with a Gaucho or Turkshead.

But as I understand I first have to finish with a so called "Terminal Knot".

I looked everywhere for a nice instruction on how to make one but I can´t seem to find one.

Can somebody help with a nice tutorial on how to make such a "Terminal Knot"?

Or better yet a complete Tutorial for braiding a nice roundbraid bracelet?

Thanks,

Erik

Ok, here is a reference to books that explain the terminal knot:

Idon't know of anything on line off the top of my head, but Grant shows 4 string version on pps 108 & 109 of the Encylopedia ofRawhide and Leather Braiding.

Ron Edwards shows the same knot onpps 28 & 29 of his original Advanced Leatherwork ( Ramskull Press)where he calls it a gumknot button.

They are just a crown and then wall and will work with any number of strings.

There are several other buttons in the Ron Edwards book that would also work.

By the way, my corral hat has a 38 bight spanish ring knot for a hat band.

Enough to practice.

If I finish my little project I will publish a photo of it.

Thanks again,

Since this seems to be a popular question lately, I've added a page on my site with images and instructions. Here's the link:

Terminal Knot

Let me know if it needs a few more pics, John
