  1. Does anyone happen to have a pattern? Or at least a cylinder pattern that can get me started? -Sapp
  2. As the title says, I am looking for possibly a pattern or help with how to make a leather Fez case. I am currently a Master Mason and a Shriner. When I was accepted into the Shriners, I got initiated with a good friend of mine. When we ordered our Fez they did not come with a case and I didn't want to buy a cheap one you can find online. For rigidity, I was thinking of using a large cylindrical paper mache hat box and then building the leather case around it, but I am having a hard time finding one that would fit the actual Fez. Most cases I have seen on the internet that are made from leather are either zipper style opening top or have some sort of clasp. I have never built anyting cylindrical like this so it would def be a challenge without help. Also, I noticed that most cases have sort of interal center piece that I assume helps hold the fez in place during travels. I did do a bit of searching and found some examples here, but nothing I could find as far as instructions or guides to assist me. I have included some photos of leather cases as an example of what I am looking to do. Thanks in advance! fezcase2.webp

  4. Hey all, Been lurking around searching through and looking at various posts here for a few years finally decided to join. I'm Mike and I started with leather a few years ago. Funny enough I started out by making leather goods for Star Wars fans and cosplayers. Anyone who has seen Star Wars knows that TONS of props are leather based. That's how I got started. Then I fell in love with the personal aspect of creating and designing things and watching them come alive and become a physical product. I am 100% self-taught, but would love to learn from others. I bought and collected a ton of tools the last few years and a few great machines (Press, Cobra 26, Glowforge, etc). I still sell items on ETSY, but my main source of business is for law enforcement with badge holders and badge wallets. I design most of my stuff in Adobe Illustrator and then practice with card stock until I get it right. I am really interested in honing my craft, learning everything I can about leatherworking. I want to learn more about types of leathers, when and when not to use them, types of tools to use and general knowledge I can use to improve! I retire from the State in seven years and would like to be pretty decent by then so it can remain my hobby and be a source of income! Best of both worlds! -Michael
