  1. I need some very dense and very soft leather, ideally veg-tan natural color so that I can dye it myself. It can be relatively thick as long as it's soft enough that I can tie knots with it. I'm thinking that moccasin bison might be what I'm after. I'm grateful for advice both on type of leather and suppliers that offer a good balance of quality and price.
  2. I'm working with a nice piece of white semi-aniline matte reindeer leather (from Kero leather) and I've noted that the pigment layer is quite sensitive to abrasion. I've tested two layers of Tan-kote followed by wax but I'm not sure that it protects enough from wear. Do you have any other tips for a good finishing / coating combination to protect it? I want to retain the matte impression and avoid darkening. It does not have to be water resistant.
