  1. I know this post is old but I just came across it. I started the neoprene/fabrick blend on leather holsters and yes the cowboy will sew it just fine as long as you handle the neoprene the same way you do the leather and have it tacked or glued to the leather first. If you dont and just try to sew the neoprene it will just pull it into the machine.
  2. Ive recently had a few holsters ive had to refinish because of the finish peeling off, I use angelus flat top and have never had this issue. I have had it happen with two differant bottles and the company i bought it from the first time said it may have been frozen cause they had a issue with heating in one of there warehouses but this apparently isnt the case. I normaly dip my holsters and them airbrush on the final coat then give it about 8 hours to dry some times i just airbrush the topcoat on. Im ony had this happen with holsters that was dyed in black but i always buff them good to get the left over residue off. Ive used angelus, feblings water and alcohol as well as vinagroon and this has happen with black only at this point. Any one have any idea's? Angelus said to stir it with a stick and make sure to warm the leather and the flat top befor applying it.
  3. Im getting ready to make a few shoulder holsters and was wondering what is the best leather to use for the harness/straps of the shoulder holster??
  4. I will but it may be awhile ive already made six good for learning and filling up trash bags ive got another glueing now the way im doing it causeing to wet 2 time i made a wooden mould for the outline of the gun so as to have the bulk of the gun on the outside of the holster after i get that attached to the back i have to wet again to do the bonning to get it well defined but i think i can make another mold and bone all in one wetting with a little pratice
  5. I like the way its moulded with the hole gun on the outside not digging to your body kinda likda like a leather super tuck if i can im gonna try to make me a mix of the 2 styles of all leather i had ordered some leather from leather unlimited latago pices supposed to be 6/7 oz but it sure does seem thin to me seems more like 3/6 oz but it was my first holster and ive made 6 so far one of witch is fairly comfortable so i need the pratice and i figure ill get better at it in time and sorry again didnt mean to sound like i was copying a specific holster i was just trying to see how that one was laid out its the only one ive seen like that
  6. Thank you so much so simple and i didnt even catch on lol thanks alot thats what ive been doing wrong i bet cause i just couldnt get it
  7. i just reread it and yes it was what im trying to do is get the back part that goes to you body kinda like it but no im trying to copy it exactly cause i think it could be a bit shorter at the barrel end but what i ment is this holster will be for a 1911 ama also try to make one for my xd
  8. hello this is my first time posting but ive read alot here and ive already made 6 holsters and they will hold a gun but they look very bad so far and i cant seem to get a good loking shape to em but they are getting better lol anyway i cant aford a Dakota defender so im trying to make holster 1911 close to it do any of you have one you would be willing to trace and scan and let me try it that way
