Here is my shuttle, and I also noticed the spring is missing from the shuttle cover, which surely isn't helping. Good to know about the Facebook group! I'll find it.

Hello! I am beyond stoked to see some people from New Zealand here. I have pearson serial No.6974, I recently bought it from a guy in Christchurch. There is some very useful info on here, and would love to get in contact with someone in NZ who knows a bit about these machines. I cannot get mine to stitch correctly, as the tension never stays consistent. It will be stitching perfectly, then all of a sudden the bottom thread will be looping on top. It also occasionally misses a stitch. I'm fairly certain it's down to the shuttle. I'll try and attach some photos. I've spent hours and days cleaning, oiling, and adjusting tension, it's very frustrating the lack of consistency, because it means I cannot use it yet for projects. I'm reluctant to just buy a shuttle without trying everything else first, as they are very pricey. Also the stitching length is not correct. There is way more SPI than I have it set on. Does anyone know what would cause this? I will not stop until my machine is perfect haha, I love it to bits and wouldn't have anything else (I'm 21, spent all my savings on this machine, they don't come up for sale very often here in NZ) Thanks for any input and help, it's awesome to connect with others who love these beautiful machines. ...I can't seem to attach photos...might have to become a member to do that
