Hi guys,
I know this is a tad off topic for the site but I’m hoping you can help me out. I need to finish a project quickly and can’t really wait for a proper machine to become available.
For some context I had a consew 210. Not the greatest machine but did fine for my needs. unfortunately I let a friend use the machine and made the mistake of leaving them alone with it (it was in my garage, it was cold and I had some work to complete), they finish their sewing and leave. I go to pack everything away and find my machine has been destroyed.
What they did to it I have no idea, but the belt was snapped, motor won’t turn over and the foot spring looks as though someone had unraveled it.
Safe to say they’re never using my machine again.
normally I’d get it fixed and continue using it, but as mentioned above I need to finish my project before the weekend so probably won’t have time to have it fixed and complete the project before then.
Luckily my mum has offered to help me out by offering me her machine, but I’m not really sure about it.
it’s a relatively new (maybe 20 years old at a push?) probably about 10-15 though) Toyota plastic domestic sewing machine. Motor is a whopping 75w.
for most domestic stuff I’m sure that’s fine but I’m sewing 1680d ballistic nylon.
I imagine it will sew 1 layer of ballistic nylon to 1 layer of 300d dress lining polyester, and maybe that to another one of those together (one layer of ballistic nylon sewn to polyester to another layer of ballistic nylon sewn to polyester) but there’s a part of the design that would see me sew through four layers of ballistic nylon and two layers of polyester.
I’m imagining that isn’t possible with my mums machine?
obviously don’t want to destroy her machine by abusing it nor permanently mod it as it isn’t mine but any advice or recommendations about this would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
