About Me
Err... ummm.. I dunno
Got into leatherwork whilst re-enacting. Needed something to show the public when the arthritis took hold and I couldn't get onto the battlefield as often as I wanted to!
At first I taught myself some basic sewing and made up a few small bags. My most ambitious early piece was a quiver and belt bag for my son. It was a bit rough and ready but I think that's when the leather bug began to bite deep.
No longer re-enacting (time and money put a stop to that) but the love of leather has stuck around. I've spent a few years just playing with scraps and making small bags and odds. Then about 12 months ago I came across a picture on the net of a tooled book cover and immediately bought myself a basic tooling set.
So far I've not done that much tooling - don't have the time - and the only item I've made into a finished piece was a cigarette packet cover for a friend. She loves it although I now consider it very unfinished, didn't burnish the edges etc etc (I'm my own worst critic !).
Right now I'm planning a tool roll bag for my small rusty motorcycle - just got to find the money for some decent leather
