Cross Draw Sheath
HC Leathers replied to HC Leathers's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
the way i thought about it was to make 3 layers on the belt loop side so you would have backing a thicker center skived away to the belt loops with the center cut away and to protect the stitching and then a top leather this is the basic line drawing i have com up with the main problem is the knife is very long a 9.5" and very unbalanced the main worry is that the knife and sheath must be comfortable to both wear and use that's why i have gone for the oversize belt loops to give some degree of movement -
i have been asked to make a sheath in a cross draw pancake style edge down on the right side the knife is 91/2" in length with a 5" Blade any help pleas lads i need a pattern to follow thanks

Dagger Sheath

In close-quarters fighting there is no more deadly weapon than the knife. In choosing a knife there are two important factors to bear in mind: balance and keenness. The hilt should fit easily in your hand, and the blade should not be so heavy that it tends to drag the hilt from your fingers in a loose grip. It is essential that the blade have a sharp stabbing point and good cutting edges, because an artery torn through (as against a clean cut) tends to contract and stop the bleeding. If a main artery is cleanly severed, the wounded man will quickly lose consciousness and die have a look here http://en.wikipedia...._Fighting_Knife have a look here for the best description of the British FS fighting knife http://www.gotavapen.se/gota/artiklar/fs/fs_knife1.htm and here for the original sheath designs http://www.gotavapen.se/gota/artiklar/fs/more/fs_sheaths_english.htm -
Hi i get this sometimes here in the UK we call them barrel and but cups slings they are really only any good for shotguns as most modern rifles have a free floating barrel and the attachment of anything around the barrel can have a serious effect on the point of aim. do you have a pick of the gun in question i may be able to come up with something to help you but i need to have a look at the rifle all the best HC

Hi Jason for a first time i would be very happy with that these are what i sell here in the UK http://www.hcleathers.co.uk/products_9.html i stopped using the lighter colours on the bird carries because of the blood staining and reduced the number of thongs to 8 as you get 16 pheasants on one carrier they are heavy enough whit them all the best HC
