  1. I HAVE JUST RECENTLY FINISHED MY FIRST ROPER WALLET. COVER 3-4OZ , INTERIOR HAIR CELL PIG 1.5-2 OZ. MACHINE SEW LINING ( NEW MACHINE STILL GETTING THE HANG OF THE OLD SINGER. hAND SEW THE COVER TO THE LINING. I DIDN'T WANT TO CHANCE MESSING UP THE HOLE PROJECT DO TO INEXPERIENCE ON THE MACHINE. QUESTION IS HOW TO MAKE THE EDGES OF THE LINING LOOK BETTER ( SOLID ) ( PRO ) WITH THE MULTIPLE LAYERS. I HAVE SEEN THE THREAD ABOUT COVER THE EDGES BUT I LIKE THE CLEAN SIMPLE LOOK. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO, OR AM I STUCK TO COVERING THE EDGE. P.S. I KNOW I COULD LACE THE EDGE AND IT WOULD COVER UP THE SIDE, BUT LIKE I SAID CLEAN IS GOOD.

  3. Bought the 66 Its in great shape and cuts through two ply 7-8 oz like butter. VERY HAPPY BUT what size thread and neddles should i be useing I'm lost fabric store had ton of stuff but it all looked thin. So i biught thread called heavy( still looks thin ) 40 -50 gauge --- Is it like a shot gun smaller - thicker OR smaller thinner.
  4. I've been looking around for a great deal on sewing machine. 3 possibles. PFAFF 260 with nice desk 100.00- Singer 66-16 ok desk 75.00 or a Remington JA58 unseen at a sewing shop that they say has been completly looked over and runs great. I mite add the PFAFF has a problem with the bobbin tention????? Singer, the guy says it ran great 5 years ago but has been in storage sence. looks great in photo. SO I know the info is patchy but I'm getting antsy to start sewing some wallets. Just bought 3-4 oz . (What ya'll Thank) I'll drink another and wait for a reply, By the way im pulling the trigger in the morning!
  5. Thanks for the great advise. I haven't been to hideCrafters yet but I need to stop buy. I drive by tandy every day so thats were I seem to stop. There nice enough but not realy egar to help a guy new to leather craft. They seem to want to sell me something and send me on my way. The classes are the way to go. I may stop in HC today. Thanks. T

  9. Hello, Just starting out. I found myself in Tandy Nov1. buy 185.00 worth of stuff to make a iPhone tank panel for my harley I think it turned our pretty good for just slaping it together. I made others for friend over the past few weeks. By Nov 25. I was back at Tandy buying the basic seven tooling kit. Over the weekend I tooled 4 (3X3") tattoo style designs and you can definatly tell i'm improving. So another exited newbe here, Maybe with a little more prctice I may start hacking on a extra seat I have laying around. Till next time. PS How do most of you offset the expence. Ther eare so many tools and leather isnt cheap.
