  1. For thread try http://www.thethreadexchange.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=SFNT&Store_Code=TTE I use #69 nylon
  2. Years ago I saw a product with which you could make your own craftaids. I believe it was something thicker then tracing film. Anyone have any ideas? I might have to go thru my old mags and find that old ad. I'm sure they were bought out and eliminated, ouch! Jim:whatdoyouthink:
  3. I sent a Email to the Dean, lol. I will see if he replies. Thanks for the responce. Jim
  4. A woman called me and ask me to put a state university loco on her purse. It's her purse so all I would have to to is carve a simple loco for her. Should I back out?
  5. Check out this link. http://reviews.ebay.com/How-the-Thickness-of-Leather-is-Measured_W0QQugidZ10000000000858717
  6. Thanks for the advice. I'll make a jig and give it a shot! Jim
  7. I was planning on making a couple of koozies.
  8. I want to cut circles with a 45 degree bevel. Do you have any solutions of how to do this? I was wondering if there was a tool guide to do this. Thank you Jim
  9. I am a fair weather crafter. So I found this roll-top desk and removed the pigeon hole dividers, cut and drilled 4 x 4's to fill the area. I marked the tool holders to make it easier to find the tool I need. I added a light up under and a magnifier light. The drawers are handy to hold most of my other tools, etc. Just close the top when company is coming.....LOL I read on here that some leatherworkers have limited areas to work in. I thought this idea might help. Jim
  10. I decided to make a this stitching pony with some scrap lumber I had laying around. The hardest part was the steel bracket. I don't have the right tools to do metalwork. It should make my work easier. Jim
  11. Thanks Billy, I think your right! I noticed the way I hold my tools is allowing my nail to mark the leather. I just filed my small nail smooth. Next step will be surgical gloves, lol
  12. Exactly what is carve-ease? Has anyone on here used it? Is there a substitute for it? Thank you Jim
  13. When I carve and finish stamping I find small impressions outside the finished area. I try to smooth them out with a molding tool, but that just shows up as compressed leather after dying. Should I use a background tool? I wanted a smooth area but don't quite know how to achieve it. Thank you, Jim
