I was wondering if anybody else use the "who's online" list for inspiration? There is so much information on this site, and if you know exactly what to look for, you will most likely find it. But if you would like some new inspiration, - well then it is hard to know what you might want at all. It could be stuff you had no idea someone made etc. Often I go to the "full who's online list" and scroll through a few pages. Just to see what random people are looking at. I always end up clicking on at least a couple of those threads, and end up reading about something that I would never have found myself. Try it, you might be surprised 🙂 Brgds Jonas

I thought I'd just a thread to write down some of my rambling ideas, thoughts and findings Just one thread, instead of starting new ones or tagging on to old ones I'll start with this observation. I'm starting to make a dice cup. I've cut the leather to go around my former. I'm making this one flesh side out-grain side in. I wrapped the leather around my former grain side in and cut it to size. Just by chance I lifted the cut piece to check it and wrapped it flesh side in. This is what I noticed; grain side in = perfect fit But the same piece of leather wrapped grain side out = a gap, of about 6mm / 1/4 inch ! I'll b…

Hope this is clean enough... it's a typical nursing type joke, but most of them I know aren't very clean! A young student nurse is giving a patient a bed bath. He is wearing an oxygen mask over his nose and mouth. As she gets ready to wash below his waist, he asks her, "Nurse, can you please tell me, are my testicles black?" "What?" exclaims the nurse, wondering why he would ask such a question. The patient repeats what he said again: "Are my testicles black?" "Why - I don't know," she says. "I'm just about to wash you down there, so let's have a look." She lifts up his gown, and examines them. "No," she says, "they look just fine." The patient,…

My son-in-law Keith Brown, is a very accomplished and well known pistol grip carver decorator. Thought maybe some of you may enjoy seeing a few of his carvings. Keith carves all his grips by hand with exception of using a band saw to rough cut the wood piece and a router to power carve the recesses necessary to make the grip fit the gun. He has had more than one gun enthusiast request he send everything he has time to carve for them at any given time. The finish is hand rubbed. Some of his hand tools and grips: If I remember correctly they averaged between $400 and $500 per pair. Semi retired now so they can enjoy their latest Gr…

So, it's been quite some time since I've been here. I was offered a job as Traffic Control Supervisor on a road project that was keeping me busy with 60-70 weeks. Didn't give me much time for anything but work and sleep. That was back in '24. The job lasted until November, and on the day before Thanksgiving I took my wife to the Dr for 'abdominal discomfort'. We were told she had a mass in her abdomen, and we would have to go to the hospital and get a CT scan. Turns out 'the' mass was 3, on her liver, pancreas and kidneys. I will condense the next 7 months, but it was a very ugly fight with cancer that didn't respond to treatment, and I lost her the end of June last year.…

I bought some of these spring loaded hook length holders for fishing. They're great except for the hooks being vulnerable. So I made a case. I hadn't done any wet moulding for a long time and it gave me the flavour so I dug out my centerpin reel which doesn't have a case. So I found some old chipboard. Watch this space.....

Last year or so I made my #1 son some belts. He wanted some dress belts and some work belts One of the work belts was nearly 2 inches wide made of laminated 3 mm (7-8 ounce?) veg tan, so it worked out at about 6 mm (15 ounce?) Last week he gave it back to me He didn't like it. Too heavy, too thick He wants me to make him another work belt like the one he showed me.* Single layer of 2.8 mm (6-7 ounce?) v/t On here I read of US customers wanting thick belts but thats not for #1 Oh, just to say, he has a car-breakers yard and is lifting heavy weights all the time so he's not in an office very much A difference in cultures (*that belt n…
