CD, I really don't have a problem with the machine per se....what I would really love to have is a post machine with roller feed. I realize these two machines have totally different functions, but for what I want to do,the post machine would fit better in my shop. I would have no problem selling/trading the walker for a good version of the post.

Are Tables Universal?
rawhidebystretch replied to rawhidebystretch's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I have always wanted a post bed machine, but could never afford the whole setup. I have a consew 225 that was basically handed to me,but that's still not a post bed. $700 or so for a head is much more realistic to me than $1600-sky's the limit. Are there any machines that you know for sure would work with this setup? -
I asked this question in a separate thread, but thought it might get more views in a new post. I see sewing machines sold as "head only" all the time. I know what this means, but do most all heads fit with most all tables and motors,or are measurements needed to make sure they are compatible? I have an industrial sewing machine, but if I can interchange heads, that would open a whole new world to the different types of machines I can cram into my little shop. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Every time I get on ebay I see dozens of these chinese knockoff sewing machines made by robin industries. Has anyone had any experience with these? The reason I ask is because they offer a machine that is essentially a lightweight mackay stitcher and, although I would love to have one,my shop doesn't have enough need to justify spending that much on a full blown machine. I know that they are probably not the cream of the crop quality wise, but just thought I would see if anybody has taken a chance on one and would give me some insight. Thanks in advance.

might call panhandle leather and see if jim blaine would be interested, amarillo's not too far and he buys out shops all the time.

i have an old goodyear curved needle that i bought off a fella and it has (like most others i'm sure) all sorts of landis parts, usmc parts...who knows....i have broken the needle guide and need a new one. my supplier sent me a landis #2 guide, but that doesn't seem to line the needle up right with the clamp hole. i've busted my hump tryin' to figure this one out and everyone wants parts #'s for the machine, but this thing is older than dirt and there aren't any. the old guide had a L0 on it, but no one seems to know what that's all about. any help? also, is there any reason that the needle guide would just break in the middle of nothin'? i think my tensioner on the bottom had gotten a little loose and the arm came down and got into a bind when it broke, but that's just speculation....now i need a new needle guide that fits so i can be back in business. thanks in advance.

I don't know what it is...I've looked everywhere I can think of, although I admit that is limited. I do know it's a rattling sucker, but sure does stitch a sole. Now if I can just get used to the clutch and going around corners I'll be rockin and rollin

i just bought a sole stitching machine and the fella said it was an old goodyear. The only ID I can find is that all the parts start with ROS. The needles are landis and the presser feet are landis, so I'm just wondering.....is this a landis or a goodyear? Are the parts interchangeable? Thanks in advance for any help.

Pickin' Stitches
rawhidebystretch replied to rawhidebystretch's topic in Shoes, Boots, Sandals and Moccassins
thanks folks....i knew there had to be a way other than usin' an awl to get each one. -
is there a fast/easy way to pick stitches on sole welts? i know how to do all the mechanics of boot repair, but have not had any teachers that could teach me the ins and outs. with these double row sole welts these days, a fella gets tired of pickin' em one at a time. any tips? thanks a million.
