This is my favorite finish to use, I start off applying be natural saddle oil on the leather, after this soaks in I will apply a clear top coat ( I use the sheridan resist by bee natural also). I then apply feibings sheridan brown paste antique finish, and then apply another coat of the top coat. The only thing you have to do with the past is apply heavy and wipe off the excess quickly before the paste dries. I apply the paste with a damp sponge and then use damp paper towels to wipe off the excess. This give you a great two tone finish with a dark background and really makes the tool marks and cuts POP!!! Hope this helps all. Sorry it took so long to respond.
I'm with Tiller. New to the art and haven't been able to get any of my carvings to turn out with that type finish. Any tips?
