I've bought some nice shark skin for the first time. As it is still looking matte and the dye comes off when you rub it with cloth, I'm giving it a swirl with some glycerine soap first. However, due to the typical structure of the skin (the skin folds), it's hard to reach every part of the leather so I'm stuck with "pits" in my leather where I can't buff How do you guys solve this? thanks for your insights!

I made a wrist strap a while ago using ostrich leg as a top layer. However, after wearing it for a while, the colors faded where the bucke was scratching along the exotic skin. Can I use some sort of coating to prevent these straps from wearing out too fast ?

Thanks Spinner, that's some great info to start with. I've never considered casing the veg tan as I am not tooling it though I'm conditioning with neatsfoot oil. will give the casing a try

I have a talent in picking the unobtainable I guess Thing is, around here the only veg tan cowhide I can get is of lesser quality; Wrinkles easily when bent. This is a property I try to avoid when building watch straps

Hi, I'm looking to buy some vachetta leather in smaller quantities. I've been unable to find a supplier so I'm wondering where you guys get your supply? Either way, I'd like to have veg tan leather that doesn't wrinkle when bent many thanks

where did you get the shell cordovan hide from, if I may ask?

Hello fellow leatherworkers, I'm recently gaining interest in making watch straps, exotic leathers in particular. However, I'm doubting about the kind of leather to use as lining. Anyone has experience in making these and want to share some views? many thanks Joris
