one final pic of all the bracing for the slab thats all thats finished now...had to get to work on some belts i still have to..... cut the other piece of counter top to fit around the slab, when finished the slab will be centered front to back on the 2nd piece of the countertop and the slab will stick out about 3/4" above the surrounded countertop. add shelving / lighting add pegs for pegboard will post more pics soon when finished there will be 54" on the left side of slab and 24" on the right side of it

pic 4, 5, 6, & 7....frame and mucho wall supports for marble slab....picked up at a monument maker in Illinois..told the man what i was looking for and he told me i could have what ever was in the scrap pile, just to get it out of his way...found a 18" x 18" x 4 1/4" slab of marble that had a chip in one edge.....alot of weight so alot of bracing Pic 8...got the slab up on the table, THANKS MARK for the lifting help!!!!! in this pic you can see the edge that was chipped

3rd pic 1st counter top installed....found these counter tops at a mom and pop lumber yard. there seconds but work great for what im doing gave $25 for the long one thats 54" and $15 for the short one thats 39"

I have been reading post after post throughout this site for weeks, and i think i have confused myself more than helped myself....so i have a few questions before i mess some projects. and let me start by saying that the closest supply store (tandy) is over 2 1/2 hrs away so im looking for products that could be bought at other places, wally world,auto stores ect..... #1 Saddle Soap. is there a special type that is used or the basic stuff in the shoe section of most stores. #2 Carnauba Cream/wax is this carnauba car wax????? #3 polishing/shining after dyeing is mink oil or natural shoe polish, a good choice or is something better to use for a final protectant and to polish a little. #4 parafin wax. i have read many posts about using pariffin for a final step in edge burnishing. how is it applied... is it melted first, or is it rubbed in from the bar form. sorry for all the noob questions. and thanks for the help. i have learned so much in such a short period of time, all thanks to this site, and the people who take the time to answer questions for beginners like me!!!!!!!!!!!1

when finished with cutting your pattern should the cut look like a line sliced thru the leather or more like a V cut in the leather. Im wondering if im cutting deep enough, I find i have trouble keeping my beveling tool on the cut it keeps wanting to walk over the cut to the other side.
