Ok, here is my first try at a "how to" thread. I know it is no where near the detail that some of you have done on your "how to" threads, but its a start. Please provide any feedback, comments, questions, suggestion ... whatever.
I have step by step photos and some detail on how I make my Buffalo Hide Triple Sole Canoe Moc.
Here are a couple photos of the finished product to wet your appetite:

Thanks! Maybe someday you can post a small tutorial or even better video. I love watching stuff like that.

I have used the rhinotech for moc soles and it is awesome. Using a rotary cutter helps with the cutting. sanding gives a good final touch. most precuts are done with a die and press. If you are not just using a foot tracing for a pattern and are just doing a generic size, cheap flip flops work great. Old navy has them for 2.50 a pair if you buy 2 right now. Another sole choice for thicker soles is using conveyor belts. I know a company that will sell used belts pretty cheap ( 2.00 a square foot.) They have a rough rubber outside with a canvas inner that is the cat's meow. Another alternative to the tire sole is the Harbor freight antifatique mats. They aren't too thick are good anti slip and come in a pack of 24 inch squares x 4 pieces for 10 bucks. Barge cement will hold them fine with a little roughing.
Would love to see the final product ... have any pictures?
..... also, would love to see pictures from anybody else that has been able to make any of these ideas in this post work.
Thanks for the topic!!

Found it! - Just picked up a copy of Bruce Grant's Leather Braiding and there it was on page 146, Stairstep Applique of One Thong.
Hmmm, very interesting, I like it! ... maybe I'll borrow it

I made some really basic mouse pads ... here. I know they are really basic, but I made a bunch as a test, when I have time I want to do a little more experimenting and come up with something with a little more style.

Those are very nice.....I'll be thinking hard on those.
How long does it take you to make a pair, meaning hands-on time?
Thank you! ... For the double sole mocs it takes about 4 hours to make a pair start to finish, I can reduce that time if I get a number of orders of a similar style, but if I'm making just one pair start to finish, 3.5 to 4 hours.

Thank You for the kind comments!

My latest - Men's Deerskin Lined Buffalo Hide Double Sole Moccasins in Chocolate. My Buffalo Hide Double Sole Moccasins are actually triple sole moccasins, I add an additional leather inner-sole between the upper and the out-sole .... then with the deerskin lining, you get 4 layers of leather between your foot and the ground.
Here are a few pics.

Welcome, Mark. Very nice work, I'll have to keep you in mind when I wear my Minnitonka's out. You'll do fleece lined buffalo, right?
