Hi all. Hope I am in the right topic section for this query. If not please forgive me and/or direct me to the proper topic area. Recently developed a problem with my machine that is driving me crazy. I cannot get the top stitch tight enough to draw the bobbin thread to the middle. I have even adjusted the top thread so tightly it starts to break when sewing. I have even loosened the bobbin thread to the point where the tension screw barely holds threads and still won't pull the bottom thread up. Further I have replaced the entire top thread tension assembly thinking there might have been something wrong or worn on my original. That made no difference. I am using #92 bonded thread and marine vinyl and upholstery leather. I also have a Consew 206 RB-4 that works perfectly. I tried to simulate the tensions of the 206 on the Seiko but that proved futile. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Darryl

Thanks for the prompt response. You were definitely right! There was a second screw that I had missed. Loosened both and it came right off. Thanks again for your help. Darryl

Hi all. I have a Singer 111w but do not know which submodel. The idenitifying tag was missing on the front of the machine when I purchased it 15 years ago. My particular version has the thread length adjuster as a knurled knob on the end of the handwheel with numbers 6 thru I think 24. Could anyone possibly advise what model 111w this is and how I may remove the handwheel. The handwheel has a set screw in it where the drive belt goes over but loosening this set screw/taking it completely out does not seem to let the handwheel come loose. Thanks everyone, Darryl

Thank you for the quick and informative responses to my queries. I feel I can't go wrong with the Seiko machine and now fully understand about 138 thread. I'll keep Sewmun in mind as I need parts/accessories for this machine. Take care, Darryl

Hi all. New to the forum and can't find a thread that fully addresses my questions. 1. I can purchase this machine completely reconditioned with the table, etc. in the $600.00 area. 2. I would be using this machine to reupholster motorcycle seats in vinyl and leather. Note: thick leather such as that used for holsters, etc. would NOT be used. Is this a decent machine for this type of work or should I keep looking for something else? 3. I know this machine can handle 138 size thread. I have used #69 for my sewing with an old Singer 111w. Exactly what is this 138 thread? Sounds like I should be using this. 4. Is this really a better machine than the Consew 206RB-5 made in China? Thanks for any help with this decision. Darryl
