Thank you so much for your offer, I am awaiting parts from US, If i get them by the date, I might give it a day trip away and come and visit, may do it anyway, I think I now have a fetish for old singer machines, been throughly enjoying this project, cleaning pulling apart and putting back together, must be the frustrated micarno builder in me somewhere, lol you will here me sing when I get it like new :-) this whole site will here me.. This site and the PPL are fantastic.

Thank you Bob, its all apart, soaking in kero, and the paddle on the tension spring was broken off, so hopefully all will be well after I get the parts, Thannk you so much and also to Wizcrafts you 2 are awesome.

Thanks so much Wizcrafts, I have had a look and the the spring is broken, I have been in contact with Toledo sewing machines and they are getting me a quote as we speak for the parts. Hopefully this will fix all my problems. Thank you again. I don't wish to be a pain, but I have started to pull it apart to get the needle bar out, Is there somewhere on this site that tells me how to get it out?.. I have undone the 4 screws but I can't get the pin out of the top of it where the take up lever is... a big frightened to give it a hard it hit with a punch. thats all that seems to be holding it all together. Iam sure Ive seen how somewhere. Thank you again :-) From the Aussie gal down under

Thanks Dover farm, Iam loosing tightening, iam about to change threads and needles, than i think I'll pull it apart? iam not sure but i think iam missing the tension lever spring just above where the needle goes in, cause i can't see anything there? theres a slot for something I think, looking at the parts list on a 29K71 but hard to see? mines a 29K6 well thats what it has on the front plate, but i can't find anything on a 29K6 maybe i have a one of???

Thank you ferg for your tip, Iam still having problems, but will keep at it, its not going to beat me. this is a real beuddy tip, I'll give a change of needles a try and let you know

Thank you so much wiz, I only wish you lived in Aus, I have tried what you have quoted, but to no avail, I can't find the needles you suggest? can you tell me where to get these? also I can't seem to locate the tension spring on the needle bar just above the needle? I think its part number 8656 thats off the 29K71 mines says a 29K6 but i haven't been able to find anything on this machine. Other than that i think everything else is ok? the tension disc does'nt seperate, but one of the disc does need replacing, as it has a chunk out of it.. have to find these also. but it does'nt seem to affect it. I went to the local boot maker here who has a 29K58 but he was'nt helpful and would'nt let me even have a look supposedly a OH&S issue. Grrrrrrrrrr

can any one help me with my 29K6 that I have just purchased, everything seems fine, but it stitiches alright on the top but underneath all there is big loops, and the top thread seems to get caught underneath the shuttle carrier and in the carrier. No idea what to do next, I have tried tensions up top and bobbin tension but nothing seems to change... Iam desperate that its not going to beat me.. I love this machine. I have 29x3 needle and 29 x 4 needles. 69 thread. Or do I have to pull it all apart?

Hi, I have just purchased a 29K6 everything seems fine, no play etc, but when I sew it makes big loops underneath, and the top thread seems to get caught up under the shuttle carrier?. It did'nt come with a shuttle carrier so bought a new one. I have spent numerous hours trying to work it out by playing with top and bottom tensions but to no avail. Its so frustrating cause iam sure I can get it going. iam using a 22 needle and 69 thread. Its as if the thread can't pass around the shuttle. The shuttle carrier is quite tight in there but moves freely? Iam tearing my hair out. I noticed on here there is so much experience with these machines. Its an awesome sight Iam just a newy from down under.
