Hey everyone!
First off, I gotta say, what a wealth of knowledge in here! I've definitely learned a lot, but unfortunately, have not found what I needed in my search. Currently, I'm making wallets, briefcases, and straps using 4-5oz hot stuffed bridle leather, and assembling using a good old fashioned saddle stitch. Not looking to change that at all with our current line up, but our customers are asking for other (larger) products that would incorporate waxed canvases and denim.
I've found a Pfaff 145 in pretty good condition, for a very good price from a shop a few towns over and have seen it work with much thicker veg tanned stuff that we would ever use easily. The thing is though, the needle thread combo on there that was used to demo the machine currently is a size 20 needle with a 92 thread. I like a thicker looking thread for my products, and was wondering if a size 24 needle and 207 or 277 thread would be the way to go? I tried using some of the thinner thread to what we currently use for hand stitching, and it got shredded immediately (I'm guessing way too thick for the needle).
Sorry for the newbie question, but I didn't find much on here regarding the Pfaffs, as the machines of choice in the forum seem to be Cowboys, or Techsews (and all for good reason), we just don't have the budget for those yet.
Thanks in advance!
