  1. Great job! Consider this idea stolen for my leather bench.. Thanks! Dave
  2. I think you folks are correct- same tool, just a name I had not heard. I have a friend who has one [offered to give it to me] but they don't hold well enough on sheaths. If you tighten it down enough for a good grip it squishes the sheath and leaves terrible marks on the leather. Most of the sheaths I make are the fold-over style, not wet-formed, no hammered welt. A couple years ago I made just a roughly shaped piece of wood and mounted that in a little pan-a-vise. After the sheath was glued up you could slide it onto the horizontal piece of wood and have both hands free to stitch. It didn't work very well so only used it a couple times. Might try that again now that I think about it- maybe if it were mounted vertically it would be usable... Will give that a try later this week and report back with pics if it works. Thanks for all the help Dave
  3. I know that tool as a stitching pony. I tried a pony through two sheaths and couldn't get the sheath to hold tightly without 'smooshing' it. They were asking $200 for the mystery tool, so don't think that is the one they were selling. Dave
  4. I saw an advert for one but is was expired so no info or pics. Anyone familiar with this? I do almost nothing but knife sheaths... Thanks, Dave
