  1. Sorry for the delay. I hope this isn’t considered a “necropost”
  2. @garypl it’s 6/7 W&C Brown skirting, with pigskin lining for no reason other than I had it available and it gave a nice contrast. Barry King tools. Stitched on a Cobra Class 4 with 207 natural thread. One light coat of beats foot, tan-kote and finally some 50/50 neat laq for the finish. The guard was too short for a strap that came down onto the face, so I did a wrap-around stitched to the belt loop. Didn’t have any snaps so I used this post. Friend is a regular outdoorsman and said it will see plenty of hard use. Looking forward to getting feedback from him.
  3. My name is Winn and I have been making knives and sheaths for about 6 years as a hobby and my own personal form of therapy/release, but have just recently begun really monitoring the forums. I got started by taking the Gil Hibben knife making class and then watching the Chris Crawford DVD's, especially those with Paul Long. I hope to post more here and learn more as I go along. This is a sheath I made over the weekend for a friend's Brothers of Bushcraft knife. Most of my piddling will have Paul's influence (meant as a compliment). I look forward to being part of the community.
  4. I'm fairly new to leatherwork, but jumped full in and bought a Cobra Class 4 as a Christmas gift to yours truly. I made a couple of these over Christmas and for the most part did what Paul described, all 2/3 flesh side to flesh side and flaps single 2/3, however, I used black on the inside to give it some contrast. Folds very nice at the spine and lays flat. After it was finished the friend wanted initials and that didn't turn out was well as I had hoped. I played around with some 6 ounce lined with black 2/3, but it was too thick.
