yup yup yup... that happens to me too.... i exclusively use Tandy Leather because its the cheapest i can find and mainly because i'm still a rookie (although consider myself an experienced rookie) and every now and then i still ruin pieces of leather due to mistakes. I use darker dyes to camouflage the imperfections in the leather surface of these cheap pieces. I also started to integrate skins (thinner pieces of leather that I layer on top of thicker leather) into my designs of holsters and scabbards and will dye the skins lighter and the contrast look awesome. I've noticed the problem is not so common in thinner leather for some reason. My plan is that when i eventually become a master at this trade then I will buy the quality leather that others in this post have mentioned.... Your items look awesome... Jerry

thank you guys so much...… lightly touched up with moist denatured alcohol let dry then I moistened it with water and flexed it around.... and now its much much more flexible and after it completely dried looks way better.... thanks again...… you guys are awesome!!! Jerry

Hi. I apologize if this question has been answered before. I normally apply Fiebing's Neutral Resolene to holsters, slings, and sheathes and really like the how it looks and feels. Problem is I ran out of resolene and in a pinch I coated a couple of scabbards with Fiebing's Leather Sheen and I don't really like how that came out, too glossy and it stiffened and doesn't feel as flexible as resolene … so question is Can I apply Resolene (or other product) on top of Leather Sheen coat (Leather Sheen coat has completely dried)??? Thank you so much for any info you can offer.

no i'm a very very green leather worker.... so i've never used one of these before but i've seen it used on some of the leather working video's i've seen... and thank you for the tip about the bolt.... i'm gonna try to find something to cover it up as well.... yea i did my very first stitching job a couple of days ago (without stitching pony) and yea i remember the thread getting caught on everything, scissors, awl handle, my shirt button, edges of the piece i was working on, it was a mess... lol

Thank you, not sure I want carry this around as a sample (might draw some laughter), lol.. might wait till I get better at this.... Working on a stitching pony today, that I think will help improve my hand stitching... I'm a horse owner so I'm also interested in making horse tack, but taking baby steps for now...

Completely new to leather working..... I fixed a computer for a friend from work and he in return offered to make me a leather belt (he's a seasoned leather worker).... He sent me to local Tandy store to select a buckle of my choice.... As soon as i walked in there i was hooked, the smell, the leather, the feel, the projects....etc..... I bought the buckle and spent 200 bucks on all the newbie stuff..... Anyway i decided to make leather pouches for some of my leather working tools as my first project that way i can practice and at same time keep and use some of the stuff i create....
