  1. If you want to learn to make lasted shoes I would still be glad to help. I usually make lasted shoes.
  2. I have made hundreds of pairs of medieval and renaissance shoes and boots. If you can provide me with some pics of the finished boot I can probably help you get started in learning to make them. you can email me at doug-strong(at)comcast.net
  3. Your suggestions were helpful. I was able to make the necessary adjustments. I also got ahold of a maual thanks to another forum member. That showed me where the lubricate the machine. I had missed a few spots. Now she is humming along like a top. I may someday want a more modern machine but this one now works properly so I am ahead of the game.
  4. I have been using these old Singer machines since 1985 off and on. Recently I have been playing around with a new (to me) Singer 29k-70 machine. When I try to adjust the stitch length nothing seems to happen. I have searched here and on the rest of the Internet but my search-fu has failed me. So at this point I am going to ask you to assume I know nothing (not hard to do) and ask how do you adjust the stitch length on one of these machines and how is it related to adjusting for the thickness of the leather? (or is it?)
  5. That was clear as a bell. I have learned a lot. I also drooled a lot while looking through the rest of the site. Thanks!
  6. Hello. I've made many holsters over the years but most are open style. My plan is to make a Model 1881 US cavalry Holster. These had plugged toes. I would like some concrete and specific instructions for how to make one properly. I only do historical leather work so I am not looking for ways to fake this. I have tried searching here and I keep coming up with suggestions for buying this book or buying that video. Perhaps my searches missed some instructions but I cannot find any ones. Can anyone explain how to do it? Thanks in advance!
