  1. This is what I use to mold masks for now. I used to be hair and makeup designer (and production assistant!) for a local school. This cast was made using dental alginate, which I put thin bits of cotton like cotton balls pulled apart into, then a good layer of plaster bandages over. As soon as it was set and removed, I poured a generous amount of plaster to make the lifecast. The lines were from the mask design and the clay is what I molded the prosthetic from. Since I can't bring myself to chip that clay off, I work around it for now! My husband and son both have nice strong features, so I plan on life casting them for my mask work. There are some great online tutorials for life casting. BTW, I love the mask you did!
  2. Thank you! I plan on doing a similar design but more sculpted to hold a firmer shape. The soft style would be nice for blindfolds!
  3. I've been lurking, studying and trying to work with leather for about two months. Figure it's time to stop lurking! I so far suck at tooling, but love sculpting leather masks. My first mask was from an end scrap on a 3-4 oz hide. It was cut freehand, dried wrong so it's way too soft, but it looks great on me. I actually made a template for the next one drawn from looking at pics on websites. I sculpted and dried this one much better than the first! Also my first two attempts at airbrushing using a cheap harbor freight airbrush. Feel free to critique! I know the first one sucks. For those that sell them, how do you price them? I'm shocked to say that I was invited to vend at an arts festival this spring but have no clue how to price anything! Since it's an erotic arts fest and part of the festivities is a masquerade ball, I'm hoping/guessing sales will be good if I design a wide enough variety. So... Here they are!
