Did you buy your copy direct from Bob or somewhere else?
-
AODfan started following Medieval/renaissance/fantasy Pattern Pack, Bob Brenner's Book, Makers Mark Suggestions and and 4 others

Hello, I have been contemplating about purchasing Bob's book, "HOW TO ESTABLISH PRICES FOR THE SADDLE MAKER OR LEATHER WORKER", but I am wonder in 2015, is the information in it still valid, or has the internet and resources overcome the material within it?
-
Thanks for the insight Bob. The only reason I am not wanting to go with Johnson, with as a simple name as Johnson, there are already companies out there with "Johnson Leather" as their name. I would rather avoid any legal issues from the start, if you know what I mean.
-
So would you suggest I change my last mark to have an arced "J.A.Johnson" at the top and "Leathers" or "Leathers, Tulsa, OK" at the bottom, still having the logo in the middle?
-
Ok, I think I may have a finalized design. What do you guys think?
-
Ok, here are some more marks along the lines you were talking about that I made up real quick.
-
I have been trying to come up with a mark and wanted it be a little unique. I have Googled and found some that are interesting, but I can't really think of much for me. The only thing I could really think of was my first two initials and last name. Attached is a pic of what I have come with with so far. Please let me know what you think.

Got Some "new" Tools In The Mail Today!
AODfan replied to AODfan's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
Yeah, the blade is pretty dull at the moment, but it seems like a good blade that just needs sharpening. -
I got some good deals on ebay last week and they finally came in. First for got a C.S. Osborne draw gauge, Newark stamp, wood handle, won it for $48 shipped. Then got both the Montgomery Ward and Sears Roebuck Leatherworking/Cobblers hammers for $18 shipped.

I was wondering who here has purchased leather stamping tools from ebay and how they turned out to be. From what I have read is today's Craftool stamps are made in China and there are some lots on ebay for bundles of stamp tools. For example http://www.ebay.com/...g-/400466780752, just wondering if they are even worth the money, they kinda of look like the new Tandy Stamps to me.

Medieval/renaissance/fantasy Pattern Pack
AODfan replied to mrdabeetle's topic in Patterns and Templates
Interested in this, can't wait! -
I see on his site that it is a DMT D8EE, from what I have read is that these have to broken in. Did you seem to have the same issue? I am really new to sharpening and heard there are ways to ruins the stone.
-
Thanks found lots of info on that. Yea, they do seem very pricey, I just don't know what grit to get? Would 8000 be all I need to get a blade that was dull to a razor's edge?
-
So, I got my first round knife. I purchased an Abetta from Amazon for about $10 shipped(see link below). I got thinking it was $10 if it is crap, I can trash it. Well, it is not bad, I have seen worse blades on a knife. It is dull and was wondering if it would be worth putting an edge on this thing. I don't have any stones at the moment and wondering what would the cheapest way to go about to if this thing can get razor sharp. http://www.amazon.co...rds=round knife
