I am making covers for Christmas. I used poster board (from Walmart) and made a pattern. I used bulldog clips and tried it on the book. The first on was too short after the math. So I added 1/4" and the first on came out great. I laced mine and did a final seal with Snow Seal. Great stuff.

Sorry I am coming to this late... Look around and see if there is a stone counter top maker in your city. They will have scrap onsite. My local shop has to pay to have it taken away. So they are more than happy for you to take it. I have several pieces and do all kinds of work on them. Tooling as well. Just a thought.

Great work! Looks like you can steampunk the case and it lends itself to that very well.
