  1. Dude. That's pretty good. My only critique is the pinky finger on the left hand. Other than that: beautiful.
  2. So... here are the first two belts I've made. I think it's pretty obvious which one is mine and which one is for the wife. With her belt, I 'cannibalized the hardware from her HD belt. It was the fist experience I had with rivets and jewel inset. My belt was my fist attempt at basket weave pattern. Overall, I learned a bit through this project: - A skiver would have been nice for this. - using a resist might have made this nicer - burnishing the edges would have been nice, too. - This was a whole lot fun. Any critiques? Thanks in advance. Bill H.
  3. @Spartan - Bro, I'm military too (10 years USMC, 8 yr break, 7 years AGR). My health issue is a result of military service and other things. Glad you found something like this as did I. It's going to be quite the adventure if you ask me. I expected to be doing leathercraft about as much as I expected to be doing Yoga. I do both and thoroughly enjoy both. @Benlilly & robertmeco - Thanks! I spent several hours into the wee hours of the morning yesterday surfing this site and finding links upon links to different videos and galleries for many projects I intend to tackle. Like this site already..
  4. I would like nothing better than to post pictures. However, ran into some complications with my wallet: some I figured a way to overcome...but the main problem was the pre-cut materials weren't properly sized to fit. This prompted a solution for me: No more pre-cut/holed patterns Get more tools Get some more leather These will be accomplished tomorrow. I intend to have a decent product by the end of the weekend. This was definitely a learning experience, though. As I was stitching it together I learned to properly stitch...the importance of good needles (the two I was using broke so I switched over to sewing needles which was a bad idea due to the size of the eyelets)....then the stitching material snapped (twice!)...so I learned how to cover that up...then realized I didn't have any burnishing materials handy... Yeah. It was a learning experience for sure!
  5. Thoroughly enjoyed reading through this thread and the advice given. Just starting out. Making my first wallet tomorrow.
  6. Kings X - I am ready. Thanks for the welcome!
  7. Newbie here. I never imagined wanting to learn this craft to be perfectly honest. After a week in the hospital and now with limited activity for the next several months I needed something to do. I remembered the leather keyfob I gave to my dad when I was a kid and thought it would be fun to do. So, I ordered a kit and got to work. I enjoyed it so much that I want to learn more. Never imagined the patience, and art involved in the process. Truly enjoy it and hope to learn as much as I can from the good folks here on this site. Bill H
