Selling old Geo. Lawrence Co. saddlery artifacts on Ebay or elsewhere.
My family established The Geo. Lawrence Co.; a saddle and harness shop in Portland, OR in 1857. In my time (among other things) we were wholesalers of shoe repair and saddlery supplies as well as our leather goods mfg. I managed this division when our product was mostly leather shooting goods; holsters, ctg. belts, scabbards, slings, etc. The business closed in 1985. I retired then with a huge collection of old machinery, tooling, other memorabilia (much of it dating from the early 1900s) and a lifetime of know-how. During my retirement I applied the leather trim to old Japanese fishing baskets like the Co.'s collector's items of the 1920s through '40s. I still have my old website up http://home.teleport.com/~bill3rd
Finally, a couple of years ago I donated the bulk of my collection to The Columbia Gorge Discovery Center museum in The Dalles, Ore. (about 80 mi.east of Portland on the banks of our beautiful Columbia River. They have mounted a very nice permanent Lawrence Co. exhibit. I encourage you to pay them a visit if you come this direction.
I'm now selling the balance of my collection, and usually have items running on Ebay. I have a lot left. Unfortunately, I don't know what I will sell until I decide, so won't be able to answer your specific questions, but I'll do my best to give you general information, if I can.
