How Do I Stop My Leather Stretching When Embossing?

Just wondering what I can stick to the back of a belt that I'm planning on embossing to stop it from going out of shape. Also wondering what you would use to line the back of the belt to give it a neater finish by covering the embossing indentations or if you would even bother doing this?
