  1. For what its worth, I mainly use feibings USMC black for most of my stuff, letting it dry then putting on a coat or two of cova color. Havent had any problems yet, but I did just place an order for Angelus paint. I also am making fire related gear.
  2. I was thinking about foxfire for some applications, I too am a firefighter. I will definitely let you know what I find out with my venture!
  3. Well, I might have a solution.... Adding those little retroreflective microspheres to the paint. After I get some help picking an airbrush I'll try it out and post a picture in case anyone wants to see. Thanks for the help/advise!
  4. I am also looking into buying an airbrush. I am not only looking at one for dying, but also for spraying the acrylic paints on some of my projects. I am very new to leather work, and even more novice in the airbrush world. Can anyone shed some light or tips on what to buy? Should I be looking at one brush for dying and one for the acrylic work? I have searched around a little on here, and the internet, and havent come up with much in the way of advice for acrylic use/care. Just to help give more info on the uses, I will be painting stamped lettering and (once I have gotten a little better) some tooled "graphics." I dont plan on blending dyes, but plans always change and I would like to try and get the best bag for my buck when I purchase an airbrush. Thanks so much for everyones help, and extreme kindness on the forum, and sorry for hi-jacking your thread 262... Matt
  5. Thanks! I have thought about tape or lettering, but really want an all leather style. I am mainly looking at making lettering reflective. I appreciate the feedback so soon!
  6. So this may be a little out there, since I am very new to leather. I have used the search function here on the forum, and at google.com, just wanted to clarify. Does any one know of, or have input on the use of a reflective paint or dye? I am assuming that a dye doesn't exist due to the way it works with the leather. But I feel like an acrylic paint that is reflective should exist? I am wanting to use them for some of my projects that a public safety related. Any insight or pointing in the right direction would be so so appreciated!
