  1. The thread I got from Ellie is #277 nylon..Thanks for the compliment Silverbullet,i hope to use and enjoy her for a long time.
  2. oh yea, awesome stitching on the harness, hope i can get mine to sew close to that for my knife sheaths.
  3. Thanks, lots to check...I have #200 needles as for the size thread I will have to check tomorrow,I got the thread at the same time I got the shuttle and bobbin and new foot from Elli,in fact he spun the bobbin and set it in the shuttle for me.I think allot of my problem stems from the fact the machine was locked up when I rescued it,and I didnt know what I was messing with and proceeded to take all the parts off and cleaned and painted them,so nothing got put back in the same place it was as for adjustments and I am trying to go by the book on how to set it up but I dont understand some of the terminology....please be patient with me,i am learning....Thanks to you and Mr.Cox for all the help...I will check on the things you suggested.
  4. Here is a picture of top and bottom of what I am getting for my stitching, please somebody, what knobs do I need to adjust to correct the stitch..
  5. Thanks for the help on the winder..Today I made a new thread holder and tray to hold needles and bobbins and other things.
  6. Oh yea another problem,How do I wind a bobbin with out that atachment they had with this machine?????
  7. Getting closer, got it to pick up the thread, now just to correct it skipping stitches..had all kinds of things out of adjustment, just had to start going through the book and adjust 1 thing at a time, but hey I have never got it to do this much,so I guess I am winning...took a break and went back to look at it and found a problem with he way I have the spool set up,will fix that tomorrow..Also noticed that I had forgot to tighten the 2 adjuster screws on the wishbone shaped arm on the back, may have something to do with things not adjusting correctly.
  8. got everything except the wax pot rebuilt, painted and put back together,it all works, now to get back on making it stitch, think my shuttle is to tight, think I put to thick of leather on the shuttle.
  9. I am going to resurect this old thread instead of starting a new one,I am finally getting back on this machine, decided to fix the base and make it a foot powered machine again.
  10. Thanks,I will check this tomorrow. I added the leather, didnt know how much to add as I didn't have the shuttle to start with.
  11. still not working here is a shot of how it looked like the book said to thread the shuttle and after a couple cranks it just balls up without picking up the thread.
  12. Ok I need HELP !!!!!!! set the needle and have been trying to get the thread to pick up the thread from the bobbin, it wont pick it up. what am I doing wrong? more adjustments? do I not have the shuttle threaded correctly any el or pic's would be great Thanks
  13. Thanks,I did oil all the bare steel parts, didn't think about the nickel electroplate. Good idea, if I have to much of a rusting problem I may have to do that, as the humidity here is high also and bare metal will rust quick my knives will rust over night if I don't keep them oiled while I am working on them. If I don't mount it I will have it put up in the shop not to be gotten rid of.
  14. Didn't get it done for new years but I am close. Still got to make the hand crank handle that was busted off and figure out how the thread should come out of the shuttle so it can be picked up by the needle. Other than that it is just to get all the adjustments set and then decide if I want to use the foot pedal or just bench mount it and use a electric motor, but I can hand crank it for now. Should I leave the wax pot off or put it back on? Any help, maybe picture of how the shuttle is threaded would be of great help. Here are some pictures of what it looks like now.
  15. Does anybody have a picture of what the slide should look like without the bobbin in and with it in place..I need to see what the slide looks like as mine had leather pieces in it that are not in good shape and I need to know what they are supposed to look like. Any help would be great, then I can get the machine finished up and maybe running, lol
