Hello, I have found you can sharpen it similarly to a swivel knife with some jeweler's rouge and cardboard. Just need to make sure you keep turning it between strokes and not change your angle so you don't roll tip. Cheers

Alright, I was thinking I would be stuck with stitching but I'll give the gluing approach a try. Thank you for input. -
Newbie Question About Using The Flesh Side Out

That bag looks great, the different sides give it a nice two tone/texture. How did you pull off the trim on the top edge? I have been trying to figure out the best way to do something similar but I don't see any stitching in your picture. -
"The Art of Making Leather Cases Vol. 1" has some cartridge case variations in it. I havn't seen what is in the list of free patterns for these cases though that may have what you need at everyone's favorite price.

Icmattson - sorry for the delay, I haven't forgotten to fill you in on the wood forms. I wound up changing plans due to what material I had on hand so I haven't started the quiver yet. What I will probably due is if it works out is post it up for critiquing, when I do I will send word your way. I'm thinking I will document the steps and take photos along the way to share if people are interested. Cheers,

Hello Dwight, That sounds about what I had planned. I think I am going to give it try on a smaller component of the quiver as a test run then make the main body. Thank you for the insight and your quick response.

It is a pattern from the archery pack found on the Leathercraft Library site. I'm trying to stick with the pattern as best I can for this first one but was going to tool the top and bottom edges since there is a pocket near the center of the body. I'd post a picture but I don't have the rights to share the pattern. I was coming to the same conclusion about the 4-5 not being stiff enough on its own, I'm also thinking to use some wood to form the basic shape and then I should be able to use the lighter leather. When you doubled the leather in the past, what sort of troubles did you have? Thank you for the advice.

Howdy, How thick is leather you used for the quiver? I am working on one right now but I have not made one before and the pattern I am using calls for 8-9 oz. but I only have 4-5 oz. on hand. I am thinking of doubling up the main body of the quiver by glueing two pieces together or adding accent pieces on the top, bottom, and spine similar to what you have done. Any suggestions? Thank you,

I am trying to make a quiver from a pattern that calls out 8-9 oz. but unfortunately I do not have any leather on hand that is this thick. I know with careful work I can make an edge seam like a single piece but what I haven't been able to figure out is if I glues two pieces together if I can create a piece that has the same stiffness properties the pattern is looking for. Has anyone tried anything like this? I have 4-5 oz. leather on hand that I'm think to try it with but due to the size of the piece I wanted to check before I glued two big chunks of leather together. Thank you for any advice, Drake42
