Looking for hints and tips on getting rounded corner edges. At at present when I cut round it all gets a bit choppy rather than beautifully round corner edges as I've seen on lots of product. Any hints/tips gratefully accepted

Thanks for your reply. I've kind of given up on it to be honest and am trying to find a suitable alternative for the project I have in mind.

Anyone know where to source Fin au chinois Lin Cable in the UK. The only place I can seem to find it is on eBay and it seems pretty pricey buying from there! Thanks

I'm looking for a manual kind of hand clicker die I can either design or buy in the UK. It's for a small item - maybe 1" - 1.5" or so by ¾" with a slotted hole and a round hole in it. Ideally I just need something simple where I can lay out a piece of leather and bash a few out at a time. Any ideas where I can get hold of such a thing in the UK... I'm at a bit of a loss to know where to look. Thanks

Thanks. That's super useful! I can give the 3mm I have a try and see how it works out. I may try and pick up some thinner leather for smaller items such as toiletry cases/cigarette boxes etc.

I'm wanting to try my hand at some different stuff to belts and the like such as note book holders and small toiletry cases and the like but unsure what thickness of veg tan leather to use for these. What would the norm be for this kind of stuff. I normally buy 3mm or so, but guessing this is far too thick - I was thinking maybe 2mm or so. Ideas/suggestions gratefully accepted.

Thanks Gary, had a Google around but still can't come up with much. Horween in the States just advise AA Crack, so I guess I'm just going in circles at present!

Thanks. I'll give them a call. They only list 2mm thick material, ideally I'm looking for something a little thicker, maybe 7-8oz.

Can anyone advise where to buy Horween Chromexcel in the UK. I've looked at various tanneries but can't find any. Thanks

Fed Up Of Cheap Rotary Punches... What Next?
erniethemilk replied to erniethemilk's topic in Leather Tools
Thanks guys. Ordered an Osborne this morning. Palpitations ordering an £80 hole punch but there you go, hopefully will stop me going through them every few weeks! :-) -
I'm getting a bit fed up of the cheap rotary hole punches I'm buying and using. Given about 3 weeks or so and I seem to keep breaking them, bending them on 4mm veg tan leather. I'm thinking what next, and wondering how good the Osborne rotary punch is. It's quite a pricey option here in the UK (c. £70) compare to the £7-£8 I'm spending at the moment. Anyone have thoughts/recommendations.

Since I've started making leather things (mainly belts) from veg tan leather, I've always used acrylic leather dye but to be honest I find the dye gives me a headache and the smell is pretty strong when applying. I've not used water based dyes, but wondering what the main difference is regarding use and finish. Presently I dye, then polish out and apply either Resolene or Tan Kote over the top. If I switched over to water based dyes, what would be the differences I would see? Thanks

I'm looking for a custom embossing stamp for my products. I've looked at Artisans but there quite pricey at this point, I'm wondering if there's alternate companies in the UK worth considering.
