We're just getting started up. We got this machine last week, and expect to get our first full order of fabric in today. (The truck was supposed to be here an hour ago.) We'll be making jeans with impact and abrasion protection for women who ride motorcycles. The fabric is a denim with UHMWPE (like Dyneema) woven in. We're expecting to use the split-bar for sewing back pockets, but it's still experimental for now. Once we get some practice, we hope it will be useful. One day we hope to be large enough for a pocket setter, at which point the split bar might not matter any longer.

Does anyone know if needle position synchronizers for servo motors are compatible from control box to control box? I have a machine with a J7R Control Box (Model KE120B) that does not currently have a NPS installed, but it looks like it has the square four-pronged jack for it. I also have a spare position sensor from a Reliable SM6000SM that looks like it will plug right in there. Before I go and find a hand wheel bolt and plug it in, I just wanted a quick sanity check - is there any possibility this could work? Is there any possibility I could short something out or hurt anything?

This is a long shot, but I'm looking for a presser foot with right hand guide for a Juki 3568A double needle machine with 1/4" gauge. I've seen a bunch online (like the S570) that have the guide very close to the right needle. I need something with more spacing: 1/8" or more. If anyone has any sources or places to look, I'd appreciate it. I'm not expecting a lot of returned calls if I start calling random machine distributors for a $10-$20 part.

Thank you so much for your help! Do you have any recommendations for a specific motor or motor source? My current project is an old Union Special cover stitch machine, which has about ten times the adjustments as a regular lockstitch that I'm used to. The bar tacker will be my next project. If I don't end up trying to throw one of them out the window (and ending up in the hospital with a sprained back and hernia), I'll feel like a pretty good mechanic. It's fun so far.

I had a Singer 269W141 bar tacker fall into my lap. It currently has a 3 phase 220 volt motor on it, and I'd like to replace that with a servo or other 110v motor. Is that possible? I've never actually seen this machine working except in YouTube videos, so I don't know how it really works mechanically. I have replaced clutch motors on other machines with servos, but the bar tacker looks like a different thing - there's no clutch on the motor, and I know it runs through a pattern that looks to be started and stopped mechanically. If anyone has any advice, I'd really appreciate it.

I'm fairly new to sewing, but jumped in with both feet and bought a Juki lu1508n. I would like to be able to maintain it myself, and I'd like to be able to buy used machines in the future and get them sorted out. I'm mechanically adept, but don't know where to start learning about sewing machines. Can anyone recommend any books, videos, etc. to help me start learning?
