  1. Gigi, just wondering, if hookwas a little behind, would that not affect forward stitch also?
  2. Hi brmax. The top thread tensioner just happens to be loose now as part of experimenting but stitches perfectly forward and adjusting it makes little difference to the problem in reverse. Hi LumpenDoodle2. I don't know, but I set very carefully with stitch lever in forward on largest stitch setting. The machine stitches perfectly in the holes in reverse. Hi Uwe. My thread does not seem to get caught where yours does. However: In reverse the takeup lever picks up the thread tension spring sooner than it does in forward. So it seems that a loop is left behind on every upstrokeof the take up lever. It feels lime something is catching the thread preventing the lever from pulling the thread in, however, I cannot see what it is when leather is in the machine.
  3. Uwe, thanks so much, I believe this could be the issue here as well, I glad someone else has the same. It seemed everybody runs so smooth. Now the machiniacs must please help us with a fix... please. Gigi, I have seen some improvement in the past with bonded thread, but I need to use all sorts of thread. Constabulary, This is an option we may need other opinions on and maybe try out. Thanks!
  4. Wow!! you guys are awesome! Thanks so much for all the kind replies. I will work through each one carefully. I have a video up on my c ha on you tube. Search theus badenhorst and you will find it. Cb4500 reverse problem. Bob, thank you, I have played around with the tensions whichever way, problem persists. The theory about thread ctching on bobbin makes alot of sense but under close inspection there seems to be no snag that I can discern. see video. I will respond to other suggestions as I go through them. thanks again. This problem has been with us for 3 years. I have now taken up the challenge to sort it out. the reverse function on these machines is one of themost fabulous functions. have a great day all.
  5. Good day all. I am having a problem with my machine. It stitches fine forward, but in reverse it makes loops underneath. I have run through all the instructional videos on you tube. All the basic checks are done. When in reverse, the machine sounds as if the tension of the upper thread is too tight as opposed to sewing forward, yet it is the top thread that loops underneath in reverse. I would greatly appreciate it if someone would take up the challenge of running through all the settings with me esp the uncommon ones. My machine was never properly setup by the agents in south africa. I got a technician out to set it up. I recently re did the timing, feet balance threading, oiling race screw tension from videos, just to be sure. The thread is wound correctly on bobbin. my email address is zandeo@gmail.com. thanks very much.
  6. very helpfull. i like the heavy thread handsewn look since i used to handsew alot. I have gone to a thin thread and thick needle on shoe patcher since the heavier needle deflects less and causes less friction on thread and allows thread locks to pull in easier. I use a pfaff treadle on my 12" patcher. bobbin is small and m36 thread goes further.
  7. Hi all. Thank you so much. I wrote a massive detailed reply, which is now lost. in short. Mechanic came out at my cost. Spent almost 2 days setting up machine Agents mean well, but dont seem to know the machine. Hey recommended twisted thread. of which I bought 10 rolls of different weight. Mechanic says the needles are poor quality and we eventuallyut in bonded hread Poly cotton blend M20, that bacstitched noproblem. The mechanic used to work on the adler 205. Agents would do well to contract an independent professional technician to do thesetup for them and should not pretend to know a machine, when they dont. In the States people stake their reputation on setup and backup. They wanted me to send the head back on my expense 1000 mies one way. It was with them and there were many issues, although is did sew but with sound effects etc. Thread lubrication was added at mechanics advice and it works a charm. I prefer threading the coblea way, althouh I realise tension is tension whichever way you achieve it. My check spring wastoo loose and bobbin tension too tight. There was play on some of the shafts, driver play. feed timing, feet alignment. I was using M8 thick thread left twist polyester, but have since decided to move to M12 thinner hread polyester left twist. If I buy again, I will buy bonded polyester and uality needles. lie 180 needles with M12 thread. I am glad I got ot sorted, now the work os happening again. Mahine runs smooth and noiseless. I see a p1 to p9 setting on servo motor, Got a fright when machine wanted to run in reverse, probably programs for cycle of motor. got ot on P 8 which seems to work. Thanks again!
  8. Hi. Thank you for the reply! Yes bobbin thread is straight and top thread makes loops on bottom in reverse only. Tension settings does not affect it much. Take up spring makes some difference but have tried various settings with no lasting improvement. Regards Theus Hi. Thank you for the reply! 9. Hi guys. I have a new Cb4500 machine here in South Africa. I am struggling foe days now with reverse stitching. It makes extremely loose stithes at bottom only. I have setup feed timing as per manual meticulously. I have adjusted needle bar hight, orientaion, needle size, thread size, take up lever spring stroke and tension as well as threading and all tension combinaions. I have set feet height and hook timing. Forward and reverse stith holes are exactly equal in size. I had problem of interference between needle bar and harness foot on the largest possible stitch length in forward and reverse, but worse in reverse. I ended up filing the offending edges off carefully until there was no interference. I have also adjusted the presser foot lift to the specified height. My thread is not hooking up anywhere and I am holding the thread when starting the sew. Tere must be somehing I am missing. I am willing to phone someone over skype who is willing to assist. My dealer here is more than willing to help, but they are consulting other people, since they are also not familiar woth the cause of the problem. Everything is tight and checked. Regardless of what settings I try, the same problem persists, which leads me to believe there is somehing I am overlooking. Please, please help me. My work is piling up as this is taking up all my time. THANK YOU ALL FOR A VERY INFORMATIVE SITE! Theus Badenhorst, Pretoria South Africa zandeo@gmail.com
