    Turkshead knot help

Thanks all, I'll try your suggestion. I had tucked it under a little, but never tried gel superglue. I'm repairing a couple of knots for a friends leash and didn't want to do them over until I had an answer. You are all the best
  2. Hi all, I'm sure someone can help me with a turkhead knot question. I am starting to get the hang of simple turkshead knots. However, I'm finding that even though I tighten them up alot when finished, that after time one of the ends will come apart and show a "loose thread" so to speak. How do you finish the knot so one of the ends doesn't come apart? I have been taking the finishing end and threading it back under all my work so that it can't work loose. Do I do this with the starting end as well? Karen

    Beads in leashes

No it isn't easy, but if you are looking on-line, sometimes they say. If they don't, you can contact the site and ask the hole size. If you are looking for a hole that will be tight, just be aware that even though the stated size might be 3.2 mm, it could be a liitle smaller. Therefore, I always like to go a little bigger. Also, if you are looking at beads with a 3.2 mm hole, you can't string a braided portion, you must thread unbraided strands and then start braiding again after the bead is strung. Karen

    Beads in leashes

I find that if you are braiding a 4 strand braid in 1/8" kangaroo, that you will need a hole with at least a 3.2mm hole, though it will be very tight. I try to buy beads with a 3.5 mm hole. Karen

    Beads in leashes

I too use a simple turkshead knot to secure my beads. However, if the bead I am using fits very snugly, then I don't bother. Karen
  6. Stringman, I too like to back braid. When I'm using a kevlar core, I also incorporate the kevlar into the back braid. I then use a turkshead knot to cover the back braid area. When I did my first leash, I didn't use this method and I feel that the snap area is the weakest area on the leash. Not good when you have a dog that can exert at force of over 100#. Karen

    This is my work

Ok, how do I bevel the edges. I buy my kangaroo lace as I use it, I have never tried to bevel the edges and wouldn't know how to start. Also, the braids were tightened after each pass. I'm not sure how I could get tehm any tighter. Karen
