  1. I bit the bullet and purchased the master strap cutter from weaver. Works awesome. I cut 1 1/2 straps from a while side in under 10 min. Works great worth the money.
  2. Thanks. I've done a couple of straps and it's wonderful. I sealed some with acrylic resolene and some I left alone. Time will tell. I don't want to piss off he Chiefs. Haha. Thanks again
  3. Just purchased some HO English bridle. Does the color bleed? I'm having issues with the skirting bleeding. Can I oil the English bridle or is it good from factory. Also can I seal the flesh side with 50/50 acrylic resolene to prevent the bleeding of it does. I make radio straps that drape over firemen that wear white shirts. Thanks in advance.
  4. Hey guys, after some thought I decided to go with the weaver hand operated strap cutter. My business is basically all straps. My question is on the spacers. I understand that the spacers are all 1/16 short to accomodate the blade width of 1/16. I cant get my head around the math. If I want a 1 & 1/2 in strap, I use the 1 inch spacer ( minus the 1/16 ) , 1/2 in spacer ( minus 1/16 ) and a true 1/16 spacer. That still leaves me minus 1/16? After I account for the blade, it should be a true 1 & 1/2 in strap. BUT.....therers 2 blades. Im so confused.. Is 1 blade 1/32? SO 2 would be 1/16?ANd what if I want a 4 in strip...Doesnt the 1 in spacer * 4 net me a minus 1/4. how many true 1/16 do I need to fill in the gap including the blade widht. Am I over thinking this? Thanks. You guys have been great.
  5. Ok. thanks for fast reply. I saw another user mentioned that he was able to cut that thick with rotary cutter. Maybe a coupe of passes? Oh well. Thanks again
  6. What roller blade cutter do you recommend for cutting up to 14 oz
  7. Thanks. I appreciate the advice. Were can I find buckboard
  8. Great. Thanks for fast reply. Whats the method you use to get that first straight edge cut? Im using a long straight edge and running my leather knife or razor blade along the straight edge. However its inconsistent. i think I got a ridiculously stiff pc of leather. Its 13 oz and it feels like I'm trying to cut through concrete. Should I invest on getting a long cutting board to cut over? Would that help? Thanks
  9. Will the weaver eat through 14 ounce? Also I'm assuming you need a straight edge before you run it through. Also can you make it only cut one or 2 straps at a time..just wondering. Thanks
  10. Excuse my ignorance in the matter, but can you stamp drum dyed leather? I'm looking at the Herman oak Drum dyed russet saddle skirting. Also how does it cut.? Will the vegetable tan show its softer color after bevel ins the edges? A lot of questions. Sorry. And thanks in advance.
  11. Thanks so much. I understand the start cut, but please explain the beveling the edge. Also, the blades snapped in the middle of my cut.
