  1. We have blankets washed first, in industrial type washing machine, I agree the dirt and stuff is hard on machine and the material also, thanks for those other model numbers Constabulary, ill check info out on those also
  2. Thanks for the info Uwe, do you know if it uses the bigger bobbins?
  3. I know of a sunstar km-380 cylinder arm machine, has anyone used one of these or any other sunstar brand, I've googled brand and model, just not finding much info, I don't sew much leather, mostly horse blanket repairs, and other items of thicker materials, polyester web strap materials, sometimes bed of my other two industrials is in way to do certain things, cylinder type machine would work in those situations, but I don't know anything about this brand
  4. How about thoughts on a pfaff 332, its not an industrial, but I've seen some stuff online making it sound like a really tough machine, thanks much for all the info, it has been very helpful in my search for a zig zag machine
  5. So from what I am reading here the singer 20u33 is a decent machine, other info I read online kinda scared me away from it, i read it wouldn't do more than tex40 thread, I was hoping to use at least tex70 or 90, I don't need speed, I like servo motors, seems like I've seen a few for sale locally.
  6. How about the bernina 950? Would that be a stronger machine than the singer 20u33?
  7. Anyone have any experience with bernina 217 or bernina 717 portable?
  8. I've read the 950 is a semi industrial machine, bed with is only 7 and 1/2 inches wide, my straight stitch consew is around 10 inches, it would be nice to have even more room, gets hard to roll blanket up so you can sew in center of blanket.
  9. I read somewhere the consew 199rb1 and 146rb1 will do a 1/2 inch wide zig zag, that could be really nice, but looks like those machines bring a good price tag
  10. I'm looking at a bernina 950 or tacsew 950, same machines, for zig zag option, repairing horse blankets, I've found some info on the machine but not much, anyone have experience with one, I'm hoping to run tex 70 or 90 thread, some of the machines I've done research on will only do lightweight threads, and thinner materials, I like running servo motor on my machines, I don't need much speed, any info is much appreciated, I did a search on industrial zig zag machines, I did find a list of machines that have zig zag option
  11. ok thanks, i called bob this morn, nice guy, is there any other old singers that work any better, theres a guy not too far away, hes retired, he finds them to resell
  12. ok thanks, i just ordered some 92 thread, gonna be getting a new needle plate also, ours has alot of wear, i figured the machine would have a learning curve to it, like any older piece of equipment, her sailrite machine just wont sew the heavy stuff so we added the singer to our fleet.
  13. i have a singer 29k58 my wife and i recently purchased, we repair horse blankets, add straps to equine items etc, we are having some issues with sewing, thread shears off when needle is going in and out of material, weve only tried 2 threads so far, one is 138 thread (hope thats correct number) heavy thread with some wax on it, and schmetz needles 29x3. i worked om machine last nite, ive moved needle side to side adj, switched needles, felt like a burr on needle, i wonder if needle is going too deep? is there some adjustment for that? can you help cowboy bob? maybe i dont have correct needles, stuff we have, thread and needles are from previous owner.
