  1. I used one exactly like it at college...
  2. A quick google search reveals one in Ft Lauderdale...
  3. Yes. It's a great community.
  4. They will sell to you at the student price. If you can get there I think (I am probably wrong though) that you can browse the last storeroom yourself to save on search fees.
  5. Try these people: http://www.springline.net/ £38+VAT. If you need something that's not in their catalogue you can send them pics and they'll hunt something out for you. They charge an additional £25 for this service.
  6. It's not my shop. I am a member of a self help group called Hackspace. Many of the tools are owned by other members but some are bought from club funds such as the large laser cutter. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hackerspace I think there are similar organisations in the US too.
  7. My name is Tara and I'm just about to restart my shoe making hobby. I haven't so much as stitched a piece of leather for 18 years since I was a student at Cordwainers College in London. It's always been a case of either having the chance of a sewing machine and nowhere to put it or somewhere to work and no sewing machine (I'm too lazy to handsew! LOL). Now, at last, I have both. I have access to an upholstery machine and both a leather patcher and a pair of lasts on their way and somewhere to work. I have now accumulated a large pile of leather in various colours and just need the tools and all the other bits and pieces! I also have access to two laser cutters (a small hobby machine and a large commercial cutter), a couple of 3D printers, metal working lathe, electric scroll saw and a bandsaw, piller drill, milling machine, vinyl cutter and just about any tool you can think of. I can even cast aluminium (note spelling LOL)! Look out for some interesting designs!
