I may be able to pick up a Singer 96-41 or a REX 26-188 for next to nothing. Have found some info on the REX 26-188 that it's a clone of the Singer 16-188. But I can't find anything about the Singer 96-41 at all. It has AF864710 on the brass tag. I need to figure out how to resize pics to post. Anything you could tell me about the Singer 96-41 machine and how it compares to the REX 26-188? From what I can tell the REX 26-188 is a walking foot (not compound) feed and has approx 3/8" feed height and reverse, Singer 16-188 clone. Will any Singer 16-188 parts fit the REX 26-188? This will be a machine to get started with and will look for a compound, walking foot machine. But I live on Big Island Hawaii and choices and options are limited to say the least. lol Cheers, Allen

Hey all, could I get some help narrowing down what models to look at of older cylinder, compound feed with reverse machines? For sewing heavy canvas duffel bags and such things. Max foot height of 3/8" would be fine, don't really need 1/2" if that makes a difference. There's a lot of variations to try and figure out which models or sub-models have what. I've been trying to do my own research, but still pretty clueless. After reading some more I thought I should mention that if an older sewing machine isn't going to have reverse, can I use the hand crank to reverse sew enough to lock the stitch? Cheers, Allen
