I don't have a press except my own two burly arms and beer gut. Why would the wood not last if I hit it? I'm just curious the difference between the wood and metal. Of course metal is harder, but why would the wood not last as long? What is the science behind it? Inquiring minds need to know! Thanks for the responses!

Has anyone ever tried to make a stamp tool out of wood? If so was it successful? I would love to have a makers mark but it will be an extremely long time before I can make one. Any thoughts?

Does Leather Work Keep You Up At Night?

I haven't sat up thinking about it at night but I have stayed up way too late trying to work through the problem. I've found the best thing for me to do is to make it out of paper/cardboard first as a real life mock up to help me spot some issues I might encounter. However paper is not as thick as leather so there are times when my measurements haven't been as exact as I would like. -

So I've been absent for quite some time. I am a newbie and love leathercrafting! I have so many ideas that are in my head that I will bring to life some day. I reside in Tucson, AZ.
