Hi, I am a complete newbie when it comes to sewing machines. I have started to make knife sheaths. Can someone let me know how thick I can expect to sew veg tanned leather with this machine? Please keep in mind I am a hobbies and not doing production work. Most of my sheaths will be 5/8"or less. I have looked for information on the Adler 105-64, but it seems they are not popular.

Got it from Tandy and they said veg tanned. I did know it was finished brown. Guess I just got a $110 lesson! I just ordered an oak leaf double shoulder. Thanks for the advise

Hi, I'm a newbie at this. I just started a sheath project, and have the pieces cut out of 8-9oz Veg tanned brown leather. The leather won't absorb water wiped or sprayed on it. It just beads up. Should I give it a cleanup with some acetone?
