About Me

I started leatherworking about six years ago. I have made key fobs, wallets, pouches, ammo belts, holsters, messenger bags, belts, carved and dyed pictures and framed them, pellet pouches (for pellet guns), I usually carve, stamp and dye my art into my leather items, except the belts. I need to learn some patterns to do for custom belts. I presently dye the designs on the belts that I buy at the leather shop near me. I have made probably 10 custom wallets, 30 custom key fobs, 4 custom holsters, 5 custom check book covers, 1 custom ammo belt, 3 alligator skin covered cell phone cases, 1 custom carved smart phone case, 3 custom dyed pre-formed belts, and 3 framed art work carvings dyed and framed. One of the carved art works that I framed was an F-15 Air Force Modern Day Fighter Jet! I have made more than this but that is just what I can remember off the top of my head : )

Everyone loves my work. I make people happy by giving my work away mostly. I have sold a few things, but the majority were either gifts or for trade. I would like to sell my work, but I don't know where to find customers. I have an Etsy.com shop, but haven't had the time to fill it up. It can be found here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/UniqueLeatherCarving?ref=search_shop_redirect

Plus I only have the time to work on leather part time, that hinders sales a bit.

I am interested in learning all I can about leatherworking, except saddle making. I am not skilled enough for that yet. I find working on small items helps me get the feel for carving and stamping and I can sell the things I make in my Etsy shop, or elsewhere. From what I understand, saddles need to be made to fit the horse they are going on for maximum comfort of the horse and prolonged riding.

I am excited to find this forum and will be digging in. I have had the leather bug for 6 years now and it doesn't seem to be going away any time soon. In fact, it just keeps getting bigger...
