  1. I would like to make myself clear: hoffman brothers have quoted me a price on a new ferdco pro 2000 that is $300 less than all the other guys: cobra/cowboy/artisan/techsew/nickosew. and, their shipping cost is lower, too. is the ferdco as good as a cobra/cowboy, and is hoffman's service as good as theirs?

    thanks dale

  2. Hello,

the hoffman brothers have made me a tempting offer on a new ferdco pro 2000. it appears to be improved since they took the company into their outfit. and, their shipping bid is the lowest i have seen yet.

regardless of price, should i get the machine to sew my fabric with #346 thread, rather than a cobra class 4 or a cowboy 4500 or a nickosew 441? all of these are about $300 more. hoffman says theirs is the original, and still the best. what do you think?

    thank you dale

  3. hello, thank you all for your great help on my last question. i am considering buying either a cowboy 3200 or 4500 to sew either #277 or #346 thread into 1680d ballistic nylon fabric. the fabric is 10 oz/yard weight. it is about the thickness of jeans denim. it has been done before by others, and i am thinking about doing it myself. i need the thick thread because my product puts extreme stress on its seams. some say the 3200 can sew #346 thread into thin material, but let's just assume i would sew with #277 with either machine. so, can the 3200 sew better into thinner material than the 4500 because of its lesser lift, or are they both the same? thanks dale

  4. Hello,

thank you all for your replies. i sell exercise gear online and it puts extreme stress on their seams. hence the need for thick thread. the FABRIC IS 1680D BALLISTIC NYLON. it is quite tuff, about the thickness of blue jeans denim. it has been sewn with #277 thread top and bobbin with an adler 205 and a cobra class 4. i want to eliminate one of the double stitch lines and go up to #346 thread, and buy my own machine to do it. so, the fabric is not the thinnest. it is quite tuff. since this has been done with #277, can't i do it with #346?

    thanks dale
