Hi guys, so I used dubbin on my leather shoe thinking it will add waterproofing and I will still retain the shininess, Only to find that it actually made the shoe not take the cream polish now the shoe is dull and and not shiny. Is there anyway I could remove the dubbin?

2 years later, I find myself in a tight corner, I bought myself some dubbin, I used it on my leather shoe think it will act as waterproof and I will still retain the shine *very silly I know* Now my shoe is dull no shine what so ever, what can I use to remove the dubbin? Thanks

Thank you guys, I have finally ordered the 11PCS Craft Tool Die Punch Snap Rivet Setter Base Kit For DIY Leather Craft Tool should be getting the next couple of weeks. I still think I can make my own tool in the interim, Not too sure if you guys are familiar with the spinning top? I decided to use the metal tip on that, so with good filing (trial and error) one should be able to set snaps, if only I can get the dimension I can file it to the exact size. You can remove the tip easily by pullling and use with your punch handle....

Hi Guys, Is there anything I can use as an alternative for setting snaps? I am planning to buy the all in one snap, rivet and grommet setter soon but in the interim is there anything I can use? Blunt center punch etc... I do not think it is a complex tool, does anyone have the dimensions for the flaring? Not too worried about the anvil. Thanks in advance...

Thank you for the info guys, I truly appreciate it, there I was think I will just blast away I will try all methods suggested and see what works best for me. I will post images when I have got it right. One last question What type of leather is used for jean leather patches?

Thanks Martin, this might seem silly but I am really new(that new new) I have read a coupler threads on casing and read Bob's casing tut.. I am still not sure how to apply it to making leather labels. Maybe I should get a bigger hammer lol, fyi I am using a mallet on a 30mm square stamp. I would like think I am wetting it, I am using a sponge to wet. more dabbing until changes colour. Hot stamp as in foil? Which forums?

Hi guys, I would like some helping in tackling leather patches/labels, I am trying to make leather patches to use on beanies, 5 panel caps etc.... I already bought my custom stamp, I am struggling to get crisp two tone (for lack of a better word) impression, I tried using soldering iron (60w) no temp adjustment on both veg tan and chrome tan leather. I also tried using as hand stamp on both veg tan and chrome tan. I am sure there is something wrong I am doing or using wrong type of leather.... I have uploaded my outcome and desired outcome.
