No one at all has an opinion here? This is disappointing.

What products and techniques do you recommend for a clean, professional looking white leather? I am using the Fiebing's White Acrylic Paint, and I just can't seem to get a consistent opaque finish without 27 coats of paint. This makes it plasticky, wrinkle-prone, and covers up the natural texture of the leather with so much build up. I'm working on clean, deglazed, natural leather (I've tried calf and goat if that matters) - flat pieces in sizes around 8" x 18" (210mm by 400ish) on average for bookbinding. I've also tried a tip I found to use a thin coat of resolene on the leather first then apply the paint... it all still ends up too transparent without building up excessive layers. I've tried applying with several different brushes, cotton puffs, and cloth. No airbrush unfortunately...is that my problem? Would wool daubers make a noticeable difference? Do I need to try Angelus or another brand? What other tricks could I missing?

Hello, leather experts! My name is Fran, and I am a Yankee living in the UK! I decided to join this forum after a hundred or so different Google searches led me here for one question or another. I have a tiny little bookbinding business (tiny as in me, myself, and I are the only employees) and I am starting to get involved more in leather working as I would like to master being able to craft my own covers to order rather than having to order half-cows for every colour I decide I want to try, or a customer requests custom! I am mostly interested in techniques for mastering acrylic application. I like the huge range of colours available for solid fashion colours as opposed to traditional finishes. I have nothing against the classics, but my business market is F-L-O-O-D-E-D with every imaginable shade of traditional brown & black journal, so in an effort to separate myself from the herd I really want to master acrylics!
