  1. My husband was looking to get me a machine for Christmas and someone talked him into getting a singer 99k. It's a cute little machine, but it has A LOT of limitations. I used it for my first few bags and quickly realized it was not going to work for what I needed. I hope no one else gets stuck with that problem!
  2. Thank you for the rapid response! it looks like the 225 is no longer available anyway.. but the guy said he has a brother db2-b736 too. i havent had a chance to look that one up yet. either way i will definitely look into the speed reducer!(thanks again on that one)
  3. I am new to this sight and so far it has been very helpful. Sorry if this question has been asked already; I looked for it but didn't see anything on it. I have the opportunity to purchase a recently serviced consew 225 with servo motor and table for $600 (and a 1 hour drive) or a refurbished consew 255 rb with new(or like new) servo motor and a wheeled table (with brakes) for $950(and a 45 min drive) I want to use it to make leather purses/ bags and belts with all types of leather including veg tanned. I know the feed dogs on either machine can be a problem with scarring, but i think i would file down and smooth the dogs to fix that. is there any reason why one would be a better choice over the other? Thanks in advance! Sara
