I read the answers to "How to glue leather to wood",
   and found both TannersBond or Master contact cement (which are solvent based) were mentioned.
  As a cabinetmaker, I use water based contact cement (Formica or 3-M brand) when adhering plastic laminate or paperback veneer to a substrate- usually MDF.
  My question: Is there a reason solvent based contact cement VS. water based contact cement is used/preferred?
